Neighborhood report to city

Feb 21, 2012:  City council hears neighborhood report from Nora Smith, Richmond Beach, and Ballinger Neighborhoods.

Since 1996 and the passage of Resolution 54, the City has supported Neighborhood Associations as a vehicle of communication between the city and community.  Nora Smith, Public Outreach Coordinator for the City, reported on neighborhood events and activities for 2011 that included 38 block parties, carnival at Richmond Beach, neighborhood park plantings and cleanups, and Ballinger movie night. Added to these annual events were new neighborhood events:  Youth Jam, 4 Corners Brewfest, Garage Sale Day, Backyard Habitat Tour. It was an active year for the neighborhoods including Ballinger!

Ballinger Neighborhood representative, Patty Dooley, BALNA Secretary, presented to City Council an overview of our neighborhood diversity, assets, and the association’s activities and challenges.
