The garden plot application process for the 2016 planting season is currently on hold. The future of the community garden site (located on Shoreline School District property that is scheduled for renovation starting in Aug 2016) is unknown and Garden Committee members are in conversation with the District to try and determine if gardening can happen this year.
Visit the Ballinger Neighborhood Community Garden page for more information.

The BALNA Board is happy to announce we’ve found a new location for our monthly neighborhood association meetings. The North City Water District Board has graciously agreed to let us use the large meeting room in their newly remodel headquarter building at 1519 NE 177th St, Shoreline, WA 98155. It’s a great space and has lots of parking available for visitors.
This location also allows us to welcome the North City Neighborhood Association members to join us when we host special guest speakers and events.
Thanks again to the North City Water District Board for making this wonderful new meeting space for community use!
Calling Ballinger helpers. Come pitch-in to make Aldercrest park clean and ready for our Aug 22nd Outdoor Movie Night.
Our goal is to clear the garbage and broken glass from the lower parking lot area (next to the upper track) so the Robotics Club can run demonstrations for Movie Night attendees.
Clean-up is Saturday, August 15, from 9:00-10:00 am. Bring gloves and a large broom if you have one.
Mark your calendar – Saturday, August 22, 2015 come to Outdoor Movie Night to watch The Wizard of Oz under the stars at Aldercrest Annex park. Events start at 7:00pm with crafts and activities for the kids. Watch for more details at our Movie Night page
Do you appreciate having green spaces in our neighborhood? Do you use Brugger’s Bog or the Aldercrest property for walking the dog, kids’ play, or relaxing in a natural environment? If so, you don’t want to miss BALNA’s May meeting when Eric Friedli, Shoreline’s new Parks Director, will join us at Brugger’s Bog to see and discuss our local Ballinger park areas.
Bring your questions, bring your concerns, bring your ideas for what could help our local park areas.
The meeting starts at 6:30pm at Brugger’s Bog Park (19533 25th Ave NE). After the walk-through, we’ll move to our normal meeting location (Lake Forest Park Montessori gym, 19935 19th Ave NE) for the monthly BALNA meeting.
If you use Shoreline parks, this is the time to come out and meet our City’s new park leadership!
Last week some talented person (or persons?) brightened the Aldercrest Park tennis courts with these lovely chalk art creations. What a great addition they were to the gray courts, while the chalk lasted. Bravo to the mystery artist(s)!
Adoption of the 185th Street Station Subarea Package by the Shoreline City Council has been moved to March 16, 2015.
Adoption had been scheduled for February 23. However, in order to further analyze the proposed changes to the zoning map discussed at their February 9 meeting, Council has decided to continue its discussion on February 23 and make a final decision on March 16. The meeting on February 23 is still scheduled to begin at 6:30 p.m.
The Shoreline City Council will make their final decision on the preferred alternative to be studied in the 145th Street Station Subarea Final Environmental Impact Statement (FEIS) on March 23, 2015.
This item had previously been scheduled for February 23. It was then moved to March 2 after the Planning Commission decided to continue their discussion before making a final recommendation to the City Council. Now that the Council will be taking more time to evaluate and analyze the proposed changes to the 185th Street Station Subarea Package, they have decided to move the 145th preferred alternative decision to March 23.
